On the path of Reiki, training — whether it be first degree or "master's level" — is never the end. It is a door that opens, a breath that invites gradual and profound transformation. And on this path, one thing is essential: the master, the teacher, the Reiki mentor always remains present for their student.
A living relationship, beyond the course
In the different traditions that we teach at Reiki.eu—Usui Reiki Ryoho, Reiki Usui Teate-Tibet, Reiki Holy Fire®, Reiki Karuna®, and ICRT Animal Reiki—the bond between teacher and student does not end at the end of a course. Once the initiation has been received, an inner movement begins. The student progresses, and sometimes doubts, searches, and goes through difficult times.
This is when the teacher's role takes on its full depth: to be there, again, even silently. To be accessible, to answer a question at the right time, to welcome an experience, to support someone through a difficult time. It is a discreet but precious presence, often felt beyond words.
And under no circumstances does the Reiki teacher cut ties with their student. This energetic, human, and spiritual bond is woven with respect for each person's path. The master does not belong to the student, and the student is not indebted to the master—but their relationship is based on mutual recognition and a silent commitment to walk in the same light.
Teacher, master, mentor: the many faces of guidance
In our traditions, the Reiki master is not a fixed figure of authority, but rather a companion on the journey, a guide, a witness. He or she accompanies you as you awaken, sharing what becomes clear, alive, and integrated along the way.
The Reiki teacher has not “arrived”; he or she is also on a journey. He or she explores, refines, and transforms. And it is in this honesty of the shared path that he or she can offer the right kind of support: neither superior nor external, but deeply connected.
Being a mentor sometimes means listening without responding, sometimes reminding the student of the simplicity of breathing or of placing a hand. It means holding the space so that the student can discover for themselves, while remaining available and rooted in kindness.
The egregore of the trainings: a resonance of the Self in each of us
Each course, each initiation, each Reiki circle gives birth to what some call an egregore: a collective resonance, a living memory woven by the conscious presence of beings united in the intention of Reiki.
What we call “egregore” is only a reflection of the unique Presence that expresses itself through the apparent multiplicity of forms, faces, and paths.
When we come together, it is not a group that acts: it is the Self that recognizes itself through each one of us. The pre-existing unity makes itself felt. The feeling of connection, of brotherly love, of silent peace, is not produced by the addition of our presences, but revealed because it was already there, underlying, always there.
Thus, the guidance of the master teacher, the sharing between students, the depth of a healing circle... all simply reveal the obvious fact that we are never separate.
A tradition rooted in humility and transmission
As the ICRT reminds us in its teachings—especially in animal Reiki—we honor the masters who came before us as much as those who will come after us. It is a living continuum, a chain of light of which we are only temporary links.
In this spirit, there can be no competition. There is nothing to possess, nothing to hold on to, nothing to sell at any price. Reiki flows freely, as Mikao Usui wished: it is there to be passed on, shared, and sown wherever it can blossom.
There is abundance, not lack. Trust, not closure.
The master teacher is at the service of spreading Reiki, not appropriating it. They accompany awakenings without ever confining them.
And nothing makes us happier than seeing our students shine in turn. When they organize sessions, participate in fairs, open circles, initiate others in turn... it is the life of Reiki that continues, from heart to heart, from hand to hand. This inspires us and nourishes us. For every student who shares in turn becomes a weaver of light.
Coming soon, a series of articles on the Masters
In this dynamic of living transmission, at Reiki.eu, we have initiated a research and documentation project on the Reiki Masters who came before us. Their stories, their approaches, and their vibrations nourish our own path and deserve to be shared.
We will soon be publishing a series of articles on these figures who have sown deep seeds in the field of Reiki. We hope that this will inspire everyone to continue on this path and to answer the inner call.
